Which Side Is Thinking? October 31, 2008

Now here’s a little something I wanted to share to you guys, and I’m sure you’ll find it interesting too. This is just a simple test to determine which side of your brain is mainly thinking, and in order to find out, you’ll just have to answer this simple question.

Is the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If you see the dancer turning clockwise, then it is safe to assume that you are using the right side of your brain more and vice versa.

Most people usually see the dancer turning in a counter-clockwise  direction, but here’s something interesting… if you try to focus, you can actually change the direction of the dancers turn.

Can you do it? Try Now!!!.

3 Critical:

  1. Weird – try it and it’s weird…. is it even true?
  2. I Use Left – which side is mainly thinking for you?
  3. Accurate – a lot of people say this is accurate….. coz maybe it is. What do you think?

I’ve seen this before, and I like it. I, too, can control the direction of the spinning lady.

Haha … I also used to think it was just a moving photo, but I guess you really can change the direction. Weird, but cool.

this is fake. you are tricking yourself. pay attention to the dancers legs. when she is standing on her right leg, she spins anti-clockwise. when she spins clockwise, she is standing on her left leg spinning.

it is an illusion and all of you have been pwned by it.

Pilo ftw!

Of course it’s an illusion, it’s a series of flat images. every time we infer three dimensional information from a flat picture (even a photograph), we are adding information that the picture dowes not provide.

In other words, there is no way to tell which foot she is standing on.

The real question is, can one see this picture as being flat, and having no impression of rotation at all? Because that’s what it really is.

Logic is not a more (or less) pure form of observation. It is a method of extrapolation, just like emotion is. Both logic and emotion are subjective mechanisms, and this illusion demonstrates that.

Well, this is interesting, but it is driving me nuts! I can’t make it change directions. I can only see her move counter-clockwise no matter how I look at it. I tried crossing my eyes, thinking of what she would look like moving clockwise, looking at other things then coming back to the picture with fresh eyes, nothing works. I can usually see both perspectives on other pictures that can be viewed two different ways, but not with this one! Ha, I guess it is not a big deal but I just can’t let it go – it is frustrating me endlessly…..

Got any tips? Ha, I need some strategies because I know this is just going to keep bothering me.

Try looking at just the foot she rotates on. Tell yourself that when it is pointing to the left, it is passing “behind” her leg, not in front of it.

It is a matter of will, not of logic.
