1- The Consent (I’m sure you don’t know this)

Hooters non-harassment policy doesn’t (in such a way) apply to you, or any customer, since (as part of their condition of employment) the girls are required to sign an “innuendo” form stating that, among other things, they “expressly acknowledge… the Hooter concept is based on female sex appeal and the work environment is one in which joking and innuendo based on female sex appeal is commonplace.” And this is still the first on the list of facts.

2- It was not until 2006 that Hooters began to serve liquour (now this is surprising)

Good food served by hot chicks proved to be the bread and butter for Hooters, but somehow, after 23 years (in 2006) the company decided that a big change was to be made, so they introduced a new concept into the restaurants. Now 28% of its revenue came from it’s liquor sales.

3- No Ponytails for any Hooters Girl

Here’s another interesting thing you didn’t know about Hooters… its “top management” is a follicle fascist.

Hooters Girls are meant to represent the “All-American Cheerleader, Girl Next Door, or sexy athlete” but there surely is something fascist at Hooters, something un-American if you ask me. It’s the real rigidness and demand for conformity when it comes to their employees hair. As the manual says: “No bizarre hair cuts or hair colors, no hats, headbands, hair clips or scrunchies,” and this means no ponytails.

4- Steve Martin (the actor) was the reason for the name “Hooters”

Three years before Hooters opened was born (May 17, 1980), funny-man Steve Martin hosted Saturday Night Live and one of his monologue says, “I believe it’s derogatory to refer to a woman’s breasts as ‘boobs,’ ‘jugs,’ ‘winnebagos’ or ‘golden bozos’…. you should only refer to them as ‘hooters.’” followed by, “And I believe you should put a woman on a pedestal — high enough so you can look up her dress,”.

I guess what happened next was pretty evident.

5- From Hooters Girl to company VP

Kat Cole (former Hooters Girl) , now serves as Vice President of Training and Development, but the road was never easy. It took Kat almost a decade to make VP, and by all means her ladder of success has been on merit. (more about the story here)

3 Critical:

  1. Inspiring Facts – I’m not sure which fact you find inspiring really, but 5th one surely did inspire me.
  2. I Told you – we didn’t know this because we’re staring at the sign that says Hooters all the time. Is this a fact too? .. Hahaha
  3. Anything Else – some of you might have secrets (real ones) about Hooters too, so if you do, feel free to share it with us…. it will be well appreciated.
