“And shepherd we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, power hath descended forthfrom thy hand, that our feet thy swiftly carry out thy command. We shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.”

“In nominee Patris .. et Filii .. et Spiritus Sancti… “

Trust me, you don’t want to hear these words recited to you in this film.

The Boondock Saints” is a 1999 film about two fraternal twins Connor (Sean Patrick Flanery) and Murphy (Norman Reedus) McManus, responding to what they seem is a calling by God by vigilantly killing those whom they think the Lord thy God would punish himself (mob bosses, gang members, merciless assassins, etc..). But this doesn’t go without reciting the lines above.

Anyway, as they stay on with what they do, a detective Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe) follows their every move, but the closer he gets to the brothers, the more he believes they are doing the right thing.

They may be assassins or modern day killers, but judging by whom they choose to kill, the people (including the detective) consider them heroes….. and call them “Saints”.

All in all, it’s a brilliant movie for me. I can’t believe I missed this one in 1999.

3 Critical:

  1. The Director – writer/director Troy Duffy really did this movie well, and I guess he deserves more credit than what he already has. From the casts to the script, I can say that this movie is well really written.
  2. What If – the whole concept of the movie is controversial, and I believed it showed what modern day heroes should be. Some may not agree to their means, but I believe what they do is justifiable. We may have divine laws, but some people don’t even follow them. Praying won’t stop them.
  3. A True Story – this may be weird, but I think it is based on a true story. Can anyone back me up with this one? It would be well appreciated.

no its not based on a true story….the director said that he thought of the movie when he came home from work one day and an ambulance was bringing a dead woman out of a drug dealers house from across the hall from him. the two brothers are totally fictional..i know it sucks…i was hoping for it to be based on a true story….great *ucking story wish there was a two to the story….but their won’t be because of complications with the director….

I wish it was true too man…I guess it’s the only way to get the real justice out of this life. Except for those who are just accused though, but either ways, it’s better than making money run the whole justice thing.

And atleast they pray for you before you die.
