Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Months before the suppposed-to-be rematch with the “Golden BoyOscar De La Hoya, the unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (born Floyd Joy Sinclair) announced his retirement in the world of boxing at the age of 31 with a 390 flawless professional boxing record. He has beaten the likes of De La Hoya, Diego Corrales, Ricky Hatton, and 36 more, and has become a six-time world champion in 5 different divisions. Figuratively speaking, he has beaten everybody in his era. But does the people consider him the greatest?

The answer would be no.

I myself wouldn’t say he is the greatest even if he has pretty impressive numbers, and an unbeaten record. And actually, it was the unbeaten record that made him less of the greatest for me. You see, the names Muhammad Ali, Shane Mosley, Roy Jones Jr. & Sr., and even Oscar De La Hoya were part of the greatest boxers in the world, and they didn’t go without a loss, but instead they went back to avenge their loss, played their best games and rose up to be one of the greatest boxers in history. This is the part where Floyd Mayweather Jr. obviously hasn’t been seen yet. He is a good boxer, one (though loved or hated) would be a good fighter to watch, and his record won’t go unnoticed, but we really haven’t seen him rose from a defeat or be an underdog and win. And since he retired without a closer challenge, he will never have this chance.

Dance With The Stars w/ Floyd Mayweather Jr.

He may have beaten a lot of great boxers, he may have wrestled with the WWE stars, he may have even danced with the stars, but to be one of the greatest, he must prove to the world that he can handle a loss, and make a great win out of it. But this is just me.

3 Critical:

  1. “The Money” – as what he’s called due to his 8 digit salary can make him buy a trophy with “The Greatest” engraved in it, but I were him, I’d make a movie.
  2. A Comeback – he could actually consider one, and give himself a chance to loose, and maybe regain himself once again…. and maybe, just maybe…. it would make him great.
  3. With The Stars – dancing in the ring like Ali is one thing…. but dancing with the stars is another. It’s entertainment baby.
