Domain Shortcuts – Perfectly Useful July 16, 2008

Aside from the common keys you find in your normal qwerty keyboard, or virtual keys (for iPhones & iTouch), you really have to wonder what’s missing. If you look at it closely, it almost seems complete and everything is pretty much doable with the help of the keys in your keyboard right?
But not everyone think it’s complete.
You see, everyday we surf the net, we always experience having to redundantly type the domain names (.com, .net, .info, etc…) at the end every time we go to a certain website.
Now this poses a room for improvement don’t you think?
And improvement it is, as now the new iPhone keys are equipped with a “.com” key (see photo above) that can be used easily for efficient surfing. Holding the “.com” key for a second also pops up options to let you choose from different domain names such as .net, .edu, and .org (which are chosen based on common usage).
Cool & Useful huh!
3 Critical:
- Very Useful - with just a touch or two, internet surfing is made easier, faster , and more convenient. Mothers will love this for sure.
- Keyboard? – I’m not sure if someone’s planning to add similar keys on a normal computer keyboard, but I really2x hope someone will. I’m sure there’s still room for 3-4 buttons.
- And WWW – oh yes, if they’re planning on installing these buttons on the keyboard, they might as well make a www. button… which can go alternately with the http:// one.
